SESSION 4: Listening to God

1. Welcome each other to your small group.

2. Share your name and your response to this introductory sharing question:

  • What was something that stood out to you in chapter 4?

3. Sharing Questions

  • What was your reaction to the illustration in the book about the author's conversation with Sharon (p. 47-48)?
  • Have you ever had an experience where you sensed that God had interrupted your life?
  • Have you ever had an experience of God's whispers in your life (a subtle thought that just wouldn't go away)?
  • Have you ever had the experience of hearing God's words to you through another person?

4.  Praying.

  • Look at the prayer on pages 57-58 and pick out and pick out a few lines that you would like to have prayed for you.
  • Pray the requested lines for the person in your group just to the left of you.

5. Assignment for next week

  • Read chapter 5 and think about what stood out to you in this chapter.
  • Try to take a few minutes in a quiet place each day this week to pray the following prayer:

"God, would you help me grow in my ability to listen to you?

Would you help me to listen better for you in other people?

I'm pausing for a bit here to listen for you.

What do you have to say to me today?"
